Accelerated Paramedic to RN Online Programs

If you're currently working as a paramedic, then you probably already know that while your career can be emotionally rewarding it may not always be financially rewarding and that it can be mentally taxing-and you most likely also know that increases your education by becoming a nurse will also increase your salary and your overall job satisfaction.

More than what a traditional nursing education can provide, the online bridge program for Paramedic to RN education will help you speed up the process of becoming an RN and changing not only your position in the medical field but your entire life as well. The online paramedic to RN bridge is an accelerated track to becoming an RN-this means that you will spend less time in school. In fact, you'll spend up to a year less in school than you would spend at a traditional educational institution.

Not only will you spend less time in school with an online paramedic to RN program, but you'll never have to set foot in a classroom. That's because with an online program your home is your classroom-or the library, the break room or the park. When you take classes online to get your RN, the classroom is literally anywhere you want it to be. All you need is a computer and the internet.

Another benefit of the online, accelerated paramedic to RN bridge program is that it costs up to 50% less than getting a traditional education on location at a university. And even as your schooling is costing you less than it is costing students in a traditional program, your new education is preparing you to possibly double your salary.

Because the program is an accelerated bridge program from being a paramedic to being an RN, you will most likely be allowed to work as a nurse (graduate nurse) until you can take the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX, that is required for all registered nurses in order to maintain licensure and certification.

If you're worried about having to attend classes on a regular basis at scheduled times that conflict with your work schedule, then an online program is just what you need to advance from being a paramedic to becoming an RN. When you participate in an online program you have the opportunity to do your studies and attend classes whenever you want. This flexibility makes it easy to take as many courses as you want to take and need to take without worrying about being able to make it to class on time, do schoolwork on time or get to work without a conflict.

Online programs for getting your RN certification give you access to many resources that will not only increase your knowledge base but also your abilities in the workplace, making it easier to get a job and create a better life for yourself at work and at home, no matter how busy you stay in personal life or on the job.

On-Campus and Online Colleges Expand Offerings in Arts and Design

As the demand for graphic designers trained to use the latest software continues to grow, more universities are expanding and diversifying their offerings in art and design. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports job prospects for graphic designers is expected to grow by 10 percent over the next seven years. Employment opportunities for those who have website design and animation experience will be particularly promising.

Most employers require applicants to have a bachelor's degree in fine arts or graphic design. As a result, many colleges and institutions of higher learning are tailoring their art and design programs to help their students gain a competitive edge in an increasingly competitive job market.

Because graphic design involves the use of many different software platforms, the field is constantly evolving as the availability of new technology increases. Consequently, training programs for individuals wishing to enter this field have been forced to adapt to changes in the industry.

To meet the needs of students and working adults who require flexible degree programs, CollegeAmerica has announced the availability of an online degree program in graphic arts. In partnership with Stevens-Henager College, the institution has established a program that integrates online and classroom-based coursework tailored to students with busy schedules who wish to launch or accelerate a career in graphic arts.

Courses start at the beginning of every month, which allows students to pursue the degree whenever they are able. Classes include the animation and website design components that are currently critical to success in the field. Other class topics include graphic design, flash, typography, Javascript, Photoship, Adobe Illustrator, pre-press Operations, Front Page digital imaging, marketing, computer fundamentals and databases.

Brick-and-mortar schools are also addressing the need for improved training in the field. For example, High Point University recently announced the creation of its new School of Art and Design, Business News reports.

The Triad, North Carolina-based university created the school as an expansion of its arts program. Through it, degree programs in art, graphic design and interior design will be offered. This is the first year the college will offer a degree in graphic design.

When looking at scholarships and grants a Pell Grant can be helpful to many students. Dennis Carroll, the university's provost and vice president for academic affairs, said the creation of the school is "an attempt to bring greater attention to these programs and to develop a specialized school that would have a special significance in High Point." Current and prospective graphic designers may consider enrolling in similar classroom-based or online degree programs that can help them stay abreast of industry trends.

The Power of Getting an Online Degree

Too many times, life gets in the way of completing your post high school education. As the years pass, degree completion seems less and less of a reality. Even going to night-school may not be an option due to location, childcare, and other reasons. Lack of a completed diploma may keep you from getting the better paying jobs, especially in a tough economy, where there is vast competition for fewer positions.

You may be one of many people who either completed an associate's degree or took some number of undergraduate courses but never got your college diploma. Finances or lack thereof, are a large contributor to this. Also, becoming a parent and the responsibility of child-rearing is often a determinate of whether or not one completes a four year program.

Returning to the workforce with an incomplete degree is very common. Since you are an independent adult, living on your own and putting food on the table become your priorities. Paying rent and paying taxes are necessarily higher on the must-do list than continuing your education full-time.

Well, fortunately, times have changed! Programs now abound from hundreds of colleges and universities that offer online degree programs and certificates. These are real academic programs from well known accredited schools. And just as in attending a physical school, financial aid is also commonly available to help your budget.

These programs are generally more affordable than attending a physical school and are fully accredited. You won't be receiving phony documents, printed from a fictitious institution or fraudulently from a reputable university, that can be mail ordered without you doing any studies. These are all reputable, top notch schools.

You can take classes in a myriad of subjects at your own pace and on your own schedule. Online completion degrees are offered in many fields, such as teaching and education, business MBAs in accounting or marketing, and other popular subjects. There are also classes to improve your breadth of knowledge in a field that you are already in, such as for pharmacists learning about the latest drugs.

So explore your potential. Take a look at the opportunities and the possibilities of getting or completing an online degree. There are so many options available to help choose your future!

Why to Consider Online Masters Programs

While you may have already graduated from college, you may have not obtained your masters degree. For those of you who plan on pursuing an even higher level of education, there are many reasons why you take online masters programs. Not only will they save you valuable time and money, but they present a unique opportunity for those who are unable to go to a traditional university to obtain a masters degree to get one.

Why getting your degree online is easier

It's easier to receive your masters degree online than it is in person at a traditional college not because the course work and requirements are different, but because the manner in which you complete them are different. Classes at any traditional university are held at a specific day and time. You must be able to attend them. If you have a full time job, a family, or any personal life, being able to fit classes into your personal schedule is a hard feat to manage. When you take classes online, the work can be done at any time you desire, day or night.

You will not be stressed

Being able to do your work at any time that you desire will reduce your stress. You will not worry about having to get to your classes on time, or worry about missing a class. As long as you have half an hour a day to read and work on your studies, you will excel. If you are a parent, you will be able to stay at home with your children rather than having to worry about leaving them with another person.

Savings in time and money

If you choose to pursue your masters degree online you will also receive a savings in time and money. Online courses are generally cheaper than their physical counterparts. In addition to that savings in money, not having to drive to and from your classes will give you more free time. You can use that extra time to study and do your work from the comfort of your home!

Greater income

After you have obtained your masters degree you will then be able to make more money. Job opportunities will open up for you as you'll be able to apply for positions that require a masters degree. The difference in your yearly salary will be significant enough that in a few years you will have paid off the cost of getting your degree. From there the difference in earnings is extra spending money.

Nationally Accredited Online Colleges - Secrets to Choosing One

Are you looking for nationally accredited online colleges? Consider this. Nationally accredited online colleges are those that have been approved by real legitimate agencies. Some of the top accreditation bodies include key accreditation agencies such as

  • the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT)

Open Universities Australia - The Pros and Cons of Completing an Online Degree With OUA

Open Universities Australia (OUA) has become an increasingly popular option for students wishing to complete their degree off-campus. There are many advantages of studying with OUA, however just like other universities, there are some things that should be considered before enrolling. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of completing your degree with OUA.

Advantages

- It is easy to enroll.

You can enroll quickly and easily over the phone or online. Just select your units, and enroll. If you are paying by FEE-HELP, you can arrange this online too.

- Fewer entry requirements.

For many of the degrees, OUA offers an easier entry pathway than other universities. While some programs do require a formal application, other degrees such as the Bachelor of Arts do not have any entry restrictions. This is great for people who have not studied in a while, or who did not finish their formal education.

- Flexibility.

If you begin your degree and then decide to take 6 months off, you can. If you want to study over the Christmas holidays, you can. OUA offers the chance to begin a degree part way through the year, without having to apply, wait to receive an offer, and then wait until the following year to begin studying.

- Your degree is awarded through a recognised university.

A lot of students worry that their certificate will have the OUA logo on it, or that their degree will not be a 'proper' degree. OUA students graduate through a recognised university and get the same certificate as on-campus, directly enrolled students.

- You can fast-track your degree.

For many of the programs offered by OUA, the study periods run back-to-back, all year round. This means that you can study without taking a break and finish your degree faster. For example, if you choose to study three subjects per study period without taking a break, you could potentially finish your degree in two years instead of three, or if you study four units per semester, you could finish a three-year degree in 18 months.

Disadvantages

- The cost.

While many of the units are competitively priced, some units (such as the science units) are much more expensive than those available to students who secure a Commonwealth-Supported Place, directly through a university. It is a good idea to work out a rough estimate as to how much your degree will cost altogether and then decide whether it is cheaper to apply for a Commonwealth-Supported Place instead. Another cost that needs to be considered is the cost of an exam invigilator. If you know someone who is suitably qualified, then they may be happy to do it for free, however professional exam supervision services can be quite expensive.

- Lack of course information.

OUA are reportedly trying to improve the quality and quantity of unit information available, but at the moment many of the unit descriptions, assessment details and book lists are quite brief. It is a good idea to contact the OUA representative at the provider university if you would like more information regarding a particular unit, they are usually quite helpful.

- Inconsistency.

Unless you are completing all of your units through the same provider university, this may be an issue. Each university has a different set-up, with some providing all of the course content online, whereas others send out a hard copy of all course materials, and there is no online interaction at all. Inconsistency amongst tutors and course coordinators can also be a problem, with some tutors offering online tutorials once a week and replying to queries within 24 hours, and others offering minimal assistance and feedback.

- Difficulties in planning ahead.

OUA is constantly evolving, which is reflected in the changing availability of units and courses. Unit availability for the following year is not known until around November, and if you have not registered your degree, course structure changes can occur, which may disrupt study plans. Register early to ensure that you can complete the degree that you have started!

Overall, OUA offers a great way to complete a degree, particularly if you require flexibility, would like to fast-track, or just want to try a few units for personal interest. Like all distance education providers, however, it is important to think about whether this type of study is the best choice for your lifestyle and goals.

E-Learning Tools - Disproving the Drawbacks

The dawn of the internet has brought with it the need to integrate it with many of the socially accepted practices of the modern world today, primarily in to aspects: education and business. The need for a fast and efficient mode of delivery and communications has always been a primary consideration in business, and the internet has provided most businesses with a speedy form for communication venue.

For businesses that deal primarily in information, the internet is viable a delivery route that is not only incomparably fast, but also quite secure, since electronic information delivery is always tagged and can be tracked by the sender. The internet has also proven to be quite the educational implement, since practically any and all information that can ever be needed in a learning process is readily available on the internet.

The internet has, in fact, become so popular in learning applications that some have even decided to make full use of it in the learning process, thus developing the concept of e-learning. E-Learning has been accepted for convenience in both educational and business improvement-related applications, being largely accepted by the learners as a learning vehicle that is easy to master, delivers the learning modules in a manner that is well suited for individual preferences, and can even be tweaked to focus on a particular skill or method development, allowing for maximized use of learning time.

The e-learning solutions that are widely accepted on the market, however, have not been spared from the usual tirade of criticisms. There are those who believe that the e-learning tools being used today are not without its drawbacks, and they maintain that these drawbacks are potentially more hazardous and should be given more attention because of the fact that they are mostly the aspects not readily seen by the learners and those using e-learning solutions in their learning modules. Here are some of the drawbacks that are being cited in the criticisms:

Technological requirements

Being made with the latest innovations in technology, it is but natural for people to think that these e-learning solutions can only be run using the latest in computer systems. While this may be applicable to some e-learning management systems, it is not always the case with others. Some e-learning solutions and tools will run perfectly well on whatever technology is readily available and will not always require the latest model in the market. The developers of the e-learning solutions have considered this fact and have engineered the effective performance management systems to be able to function in most computer systems, taking into account that not everyone is in the habit of buying into the latest innovations and technologies available on the market.

Content requirements

Contrary to what others may think of e-learning tools, they do no come packaged and with pre-set content. E-Learning solutions are typically fully customizable to be able to answer the learning and training needs of the learners. Content is practically decided by either the training officer conducting a training seminar or the individual learner who is seeking to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Unnecessary expenditure

There will always be people who think that e-learning solutions, just like everything else offered online, is nothing more than a scam to try to trick people out of their hard-earned money. Companies who have integrated e-learning solutions into their training modules will attest to the fact that e-learning tools, when properly utilized, may result in a significant increase in company productivity, ability to cope and react to adverse situations, and improve basic knowledge about particular aspects of the business.

Accredited Online Law Schools

People who search for accredited online law schools in the US would have a tough time finding one. That is because there are no accredited web-based law schools whatsoever in the country. Due to various reasons, the American Bar Association does not accredit online law schools.

However this does not mean that an online degree in law would not be of any use to practice law. The state of California permits students who have completed sufficient number of classes in non-accredited online law schools to sit for the bar exam. All other states in the US however permit only law graduates from accredited law schools to take up the bar exam. Law graduates from web-based law schools in California can also sit for the bar in other states once they practice law in California for five to seven years.

All online degree programs in law are tailored to suit people with work and family commitments who would not be able to attend a regular law school. An online course also offers people the facility to pursue the course at their own pace from the comfort of their home. People with no access to a regular school close to them can also benefit from an online degree course.

Online Law Schools

Abraham Lincoln University

ALU provides a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree program. Students must however pass the California Bar Examination in order to practice law in the state. For more information, please contact the School of Law Admissions Office at 213-252-5100.

Earn Your Degree Online

There has been a lot of discussion in recent years regarding the opportunity to earn your degree on the Internet, and schools have responded to this request by creating online degrees at every educational level, and for virtually every educational program. No longer must a student actually go to a classroom for a required number of hours to earn a degree. With the existence of online programs, these same degrees can be earned through online studies.

In the beginning, online degree programs were somewhat limited, and very few schools offered this option. Prior to online programs were the distance and even correspondence programs of times past. No matter what the circumstances are that may be hindering you from completing a program in a face-to-face setting, it is now possible to earn your degree online.

The variety of the types of programs that will enable you to earn your degree online has also broadened. Advances in technology make it possible for learning environments and learning tools to exist for fields in which online programs were not feasible.

Some of the early online degree programs may have had accreditation issues. However, we have seen a tremendous effort to ensure that colleges and universities with online offerings are now able to offer students online degree programs with full accreditation. Note that the best type of accreditation is through a regional board; when you are examining the different types of offerings, this is the type of accreditation you will look for.

Distance Learning MBA Encompasses All Aspects Of Business And Is As Credible As A Regular One

The key reason behind every other student opting for MBA is that it can increase their earning potential, it can fetch them a higher position at their existing career and it can as well open new avenues before them. Opting for this course is without doubt a well-thought decision and a smart move. There are many variations of a business degree program like:

Dual Program:

There is a provision to pair your with another professional course like health care or law or public administration. This option is quite a favorite among students since it reduces time and opens up opportunities to two careers options at a time. However, this program can be difficult for working professionals since they will need more hours of study that will affect their jobs.

Specialty program:

Specialty programs are focused upon a particular discipline or field of career. It gives in-depth knowledge about a specific domain but it does not embrace other functional areas of management and this is the difference between this and a traditional MBA. This is a kind of program that is beneficial for those who are into these fields and want to grow their career in these fields.

Executive Development Program:

This program is aimed at managers or senior professionals to enhance their knowledge in their respective fields. Conducted for two to three weeks or even a day, the Executive Development Program updates the manager with the latest developments in his field.

Distance learning MBA:

A big section of today's MBA students are full-time workers. They opt for this degree because they look for an advancement in their existing career or want to shift to some other field of their interest. While keeping the job, getting into full-time study for two years becomes quite a challenging task that many of them cannot afford to do. To cater to this need of the working executives, many colleges and universities are delivering MBA education through distance learning mode.

The course taught through this mode can vary from 1 to 8 years. But students are offered with the flexibility to fine-tune their course according to their convenience. It not only provides thorough knowledge of business processes but also offers great networking opportunity such that students get to interact with like-minded professionals which becomes an exposure for them in different sectors.

Course material is delivered to the students through post. As for classes, many institutes offer contact classes at a center in or near the student's town or city. These classes are generally conducted through VSAT or Video Conference.

The specializations offered are:

  • Marketing Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Operations Management
  • Information Systems Management

Other streams that this mode embraces are Health Care Management, Hospitality Management, and Tourism Management etc.

Online Business Degree Programs

In choosing any online education programs, you need to take into account of different factors before you make your final decision and the same is when you are selecting an online business degree program. The four important factors that must be put into considerations are accreditation, curriculum, learning approaches and overall cost.

There are many online degree programs for business that are accredited and recognized by highly regarded agencies but there are also just as many that are not. An education nightmare that is waiting to happen is when you finally found out at the end of your business degree course online that your program is not fully accredited. So before you decide to pick a program online for your business degree find out if it is properly accredited by the appropriate institutions. Accreditation ensures that the education you receive is of quality and it will help you to select the best legitimate programs online.

Not all online business degree programs share a standard curriculum. Though the name of the degree is the same, the courses that they offer vary from one program to the next. Some business degree programs may offer excellent curriculum that focus on a specific area while others may provide a curriculum of a general type. Take time to carefully analyze the program's curriculum before you sign up for it to make sure that they have useful application for your work in the future.

The same with curriculum, learning methods or approaches for one program may vary from the next. Typically, online business degree programs deliver their courses using a software platform. Business education resources and support systems online include the use of web tutorials, forums and chat rooms. Though this approach in learning is beneficial to some, but it may not be favorable for everyone. Find out in detail about how courses are taught and delivered before you make your choice or have a trial online class for free to check if you are alright with the learning approaches.

It is obvious that the cost of an online business degree program differs from one program to another. For those who are on a financial constraint, you must carefully weigh the tuition and other added fees that are associated with each online degree program. Not all programs accept payments by grants and scholarships, thus you have to get necessary money by loans. Some loans will delay payment until after graduation which may not be desirable for online degree programs that expect payment for tuition fees by month. It is essential that you calculate what you can afford now and estimate the future payments that you can make after earning your degree.

At the end, I'd like to share cool website with more information on topics like Online Nursing Degree Programs and Online LPN to RN Degree Programs. Visit for more details.

It's not about rushing through the experience but instead we often need the diploma to get that new job or promotion we wanted. If we want to pursue an entirely new career or line of work we'll need the degree to prove we are capable enough to get hired.

One of the great aspects of online learning programs are that they provide accelerated course options that allow you to move from credit to credit as quickly as possible. You'll be wasting much less time with filler assignments and filler courses. Instead you'll be getting only what you need and you'll be getting it delivered to you in a quick, condensed and efficient manner that will allow you to achieve maximum results.

Of course, online degree programs are renowned for their flexibility and the overall convenience they provide to students. There are no set schedules, you never have to be in a certain spot on a certain day at a certain exact time. Instead, you can access the material whenever it works best for your schedule and with all of your other responsibilities, which means that learning is easier than ever.

With this level of added flexibility the power is entirely in your hands. If you so choose you can pursue accelerated options that give you more work to do in an even shorter amount of time. The benefit is that by working harder, you'll be able to finish sooner. You have the option of taking on as much work as you can and you can potentially finish that much faster as a result.

So how do you go about choosing which online degree program is the right one for you? There are many different options, and the best way to get started is by going straight to the source and browsing the websites or printed materials of any university you are interested in enrolling with. You'll be able to compare which degrees are offered in which schools, what their scheduling is like, whether or not they offer and accelerated course structure and also what their costs are. Comparing all of this information you'll be able to make a sound decision for your life, your personality and your career.

Finally, the importance of this cannot be overstated, you must attend a university that offers a fully accredited degree. Be sure to read the fine print and that you aren't missing a loophole somewhere that talks about how your school isn't accredited, either as a whole or for the specific program you are entering into. Besides basic accreditation, many fields of study and career paths have stricter requirements for further certification, and you always want to make sure you're with a school that offers everything you need.

Increase Your Chances of Landing High Paying Jobs by Obtaining an Engineering Degree Online

Generally, engineering is a form of discipline and a profession that applies science and math into the actual world. An engineering degree online is already offered in many online colleges and universities today. Similar to the traditional school, it also makes use of technical and scientific knowledge of both resources and natural laws together with the objective of designing machines, materials, processes and systems and meeting at definite goal and criteria. The engineering authorities usually deal with everything or anything from:

• Construction
• Manufacturing
• Chemical, and; civil.

Innovations and inventions being proven through advancement in modern life carry the indication of the importance of engineering. Professional engineers commonly

• Repair
• Develop
• Test
• Create, and;
• Maintain the structures which are important in the safety and convenience of a community.

Engineering has two basic branches and these are:

• Mechanical engineering
• Civil engineering

Among the other sub-disciplines of engineering are the following:

• Computer engineering - combining electrical engineering and computer science
• Aerospace engineering - deals with the design of spacecraft and aircraft
• Electrical engineering - deals with the design of the electrical systems
• Biomedical engineering - it combines biological and medical sciences in order to enhance health care

All of the above need extensive education and training. Thorough education and training only make up the least requirements towards becoming a licensed engineer. Several specializations should also acquire certification and licensing prior to becoming an engineer because they have to be trained comprehensively to avoid errors in judgment. Say for instance, take a look at poorly built edifices, weak bridges and defective wirings. They are absolutely harmful to people and the society.

As expected, opting to venture on engineering involves a great deal of time management, discipline and training. Today, the science of engineering is not just a mere college course, it also opens doors to achieving an engineering degree that offers you great chances of employability in the future. There are a lot of engineers now who are starting to benefit from the convenience and flexibility of learning even in the comfort of your own home. You will only need a computer, a reliable internet connection and of course, a certified online college or university which will help you learn and master the fundamentals and prerequisites of the engineering course and profession.

The same as other disciplines, engineering offer a lot of benefits for students or aspirants of an engineering degree online. A few of them consist of the flexibility with considerations to managing costs and time management. Obtaining an online degree reduces expenses since it saves students from compensating for the pricey tuition fee and miscellaneous fees of traditional universities and colleges. In addition to that, distance learning or online learning likewise means the least costs when it comes to transportation. In spite the convenience or different advantages, engineering students should take time to look for companies which can offer them with hands-on training and internship. Wide-ranging practical applied experience guarantees better job opportunities in the near future.

Engineers can typically expect to land on high paying jobs if:

• They received proper training from reputable schools, whether online or not
• They are certified, which means they had completed the study or had graduated
• They are licensed engineers, which means passing the board and getting a license to practice.

This is because of the high demands in engineering specialists within different fields. The whole engineering industry has become a growing site for specialists. As given the competition in every engineering discipline, engineers must provide themselves with the suitable knowledge and apt training for them to prosper and stand out. Definitely, education and specialty can offer alternatives to the conventional manner of learning. When it is explored appropriately and comprehensively, an engineering degree online may become a trend which can provide its students with an edge above others who have chosen to learn the discipline in the traditional way.

Go Green - Job Training With the Environment in Mind

Environmentally conscious companies are finding new and interesting ways to reduce their negative environmental footprint. Most have already adopted obvious changes. Recycling is a norm, the use of energy efficient equipment is common and many companies are making an effort to contribute to environmental improvements outside of the workplace. With those "standard" policies in place, those with a real commitment to the environment are looking at alternative ways to reduce their operations' environmental footprint. In the process, some are discovering that changes in their job training strategies can make a substantial difference.

Traditional job training consumes carbon-based resources at a breakneck pace while contributing to deforestation. Employees are shuttled between sites in cars and plane, burning untold quantities of fossil fuels in the process. That's not the only part of the process that falls well short of green. Job training typically involves reams and reams of paperwork. You can almost hear the diesel equipment ripping through a swath of previously undisturbed rainforest every time another stack of training documents comes back from the printer!

Blended approaches to training provide a more environmentally sound way to handle the training issue. By utilizing Internet-based training and job education strategies, a company can reduce its environmental impact substantially.

Allowing trainers and trainees to effectively communicate via the Internet eliminates the need for travel between job sites. Companies don't just save on fuel reimbursements, automobile rentals and airline tickets-they actually cut these environmental negatives completely out of the picture by adopting green job training strategies that wisely use net-based technology.

It may be a slight exaggeration to argue that blended learning approaches to green job training will produce a "paperless office". As we've learned over time, transitioning completely to electronic data distribution is extremely difficult. However, it is possible to significantly reduce the use of paper products in the training process when online education strategies are pressed into service. Web-based training is a smart conservationist move!

You might not think of job training as a focus area as you work to improve your company's environmental performance. A closer examination, however, reveals that the right shifts in employee education can produce exciting results with respect to environmental impact.

Online Education - Could it Be For You?

So you've decided to go back to school to earn a degree. Whether you are finishing your Bachelors degree, pursuing a Masters or even a PhD, going back to school is a big decision. With online classes or "distance learning" as an option, your decision might be a little easier. Accredited colleges and universities offer Undergraduate, Masters and even Doctorate programs in an on-line environment so you can attend class at a time that is convenient for you.

Asynchronous learning makes getting a degree more of an option for many, including working adults and parents. Many on-line programs are reasonably priced and offer tremendous flexibility. But don't mistake on-line classes as being easier than traditional brick and mortar classes. For typical degree programs in an on-line environment, you can expect to have to put a lot of time and effort into your academic pursuits.

These are the things you must consider before making your final decision:

Time to complete the degree: You must consider the time it will take to complete the degree and make sure you can stick with it for the duration. An undergraduate degree can take anywhere from two to four years to complete depending on how many classes you can take at once and how many breaks you take during the program. Masters programs might take approximately a year and a half to two years, and a PhD or Doctorate could take as long as five or six years, or as little as three years. Many schools allow you to take extended breaks if you need to, but when you do this, there is more temptation not to return.

Monetary concerns: Going back to school requires a significant financial investment and understanding your options is very important. You must consider how you will pay for your continuing education. Will you pay out of pocket, get a loan or apply for scholarships? Whichever route you choose, you must plan ahead and stay on top of your financial obligations. Schools have financial aid counselors available to help you choose the best options for you.

Time needed for classes and studying: Earning a degree requires a considerable investment of time every week. While on-line classes allow flexibility with your schedule during the week, the coursework can be quite intense at times and you must be prepared to meet attendance requirements and assignment deadlines. On-line classes could require anywhere from 10-20 hours per week, when you are a working adult. While this may seem like a lot when you are working or parenting, it is manageable if you are dedicated. So make sure you have the time to invest before making the jump.

Impact to those close to you: You may not think that going back to school will have such a big impact to family members, but think again. You will not have as much time to spend with loved ones when you are focused on a paper that is due the next day. You may have to forgo a social event or family function in order to meet a deadline and while others in the house are asleep, you may be chugging coffee and reading a textbook.

So prepare yourself and your family members for this commitment. Make sure that the ones closest to you are completely supportive. When you are particularly stressed and complain about school, the last thing you need is someone you love saying, "I told you this wasn't a good idea!" You need the people closest to you offering support and encouragement. They will be very proud when you have degree in hand.

Going back to school to pursue a degree can be an extremely rewarding experience. On-line education offers flexibility and options that you just could not get from traditional schools. Take the time to consider all of the options before jumping in. The more time and planning you put in to the decision, the more likely you are to be successful. When you complete the program and have degree in hand, all that time and effort will be well worth your while.

Financing Your Online Higher Education

The current economic situation is taking its toll on all facets of life, including education. For many, without the opportunity to take advantage of scholarships or federal aid, their educational aspirations will not be realized. This is true even in the realm of online education. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of opportunities to finance your education online. Read on for a few key points to help guide your financial aid search.

First of all, fill out a FAFSA form. FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and is normally the first step in the financial aid process. The most efficient and quickest way to fill out the form would be online. The form is available at FAFSA website. Directions on how to complete the application and the necessary forms you'll need to guide you are given at the website. From the FAFSA it will be determined the amount of money you (or your parents) are expected to contribute and whether or not you are eligible for federal financial aid in the form of grants or loans.

If you receive a federal grant, most likely in the form of a Pell Grant, it is money that you do not have to pay back. A federal loan, on the other hand, normally has to be paid back eventually. The good news is that even if you receive a federal loan in the form of a Perkins loan, for example, the interest rate is relatively low, and you don't have to worry about paying it back until you leave school. There is even a grace period for certain loans, which means that you're given some time after graduation to start making payments.

FAFSA is not only used to determine if you are eligible for federal funding, but it also helps schools decide if you're eligible for any need-based grants or scholarships they may have access to. This is especially important for those who don't receive financial aid from the government. While the government has its own qualifications for loans and grants, your school may have others. Meaning, even if you don't receive federal loans or grants, you may still qualify for money that the university of your choice has in the form of a need based scholarship.

Besides the FAFSA it is also a good idea to look for other sources of funding, such as scholarships. There is an array of scholarships available. Millions of dollars worth of scholarships go unapplied for every year. Do you belong to a certain ethnic group? Are you below 5' feet tall? How about a child of a veteran? Or are you an artist? How about a stay at home mom? A "non-traditional" college student? Or pursuing a specialized career? There are scholarships available for everyone, if you look hard enough. There are many websites that offer free registration that will send you a list of scholarships that you can apply for based on the questions you answer when registering at that site, a few that come to mind are www.fastweb.com and www.college-scholarships.com.

What some schools will tell you also is that they may have their own funding source, meaning scholarships that you're not even aware of, that they distribute to students after reviewing their financial situation or transcripts to determine if they meet a specific criterion. So don't be shy, ask your school if they have any university specific scholarships whether need or merit based that you could then apply for. Worst case scenario: if you don't receive a scholarship or loan, you can discuss payment plan options with your university, where instead of paying all your tuition up front, you can divide the payments over an agreed upon time frame.

Just remember, don't let a lack of sufficient funds stop you from pursuing your education. Try to take advantage of all the funding sources listed above, and you're sure to be able to finance your educational dreams.

Economic Downturn - The Best of Times, Especially For the Serious Student

I love that life is a challenge. I shop differently, I live differently, I work differently in 2009 than I did even one year ago. If I believed the newspapers, I'd believe the end of the world is upon us. But it isn't. Life is just different.

And this makes it all very exciting. I can't help but compare our current economic climate to the Great Depression. There is no getting away from the fact that the Depression was awful. Make no mistake, there is much bad news and scary parallels with what's going on today. But many people back then had little formal education. This made them very vulnerable in difficult times. Today, in 2009, so many people have solid formal education and skills. These do not disappear in a bad economic climate. Today access to education is vast and easy in comparison to the Great Depression. We hear a lot about corporate America, but the truth is educated owners of small businesses form the backbone of the economy. Knowledge makes people flexible and able to change as times change. It also means that in 2009, in spite of hard times, the accessibility of education make it the best of times to study.

That does not mean most college tuition won't keep going up; it will. But if it does, be sure you are getting your money's worth. And some institutions will learn to refocus. Do your homework. Find academic institutions that run leaner and focus on the goal of education instead of the niceties of campus life. For many this could mean some aspect of online study. Both public and private schools offer online courses and programs these days. But schools can seldom equip you with everything. So find other help as well. I'm all in favor of online help.

Think Great Depression again. Companies in the radio and printing mediums had boom times during the depression. Why? Because radio and printing were new and emerging mediums. What is the equivalent today? The internet of course. So make use of online studying options. Make use of good, free, online resources. Make use of good online help like academic editing and language reviewing when you need help with writing.

Open Education - How to Think About Your Online Community's Purpose

Useful metaphors for creating a vision of your online education portal:

1. An InstructorNet Mall of available resources for instructors to meet their needs.

2. A Google "Knowledge Map" of available content that's searchable, zoomable, and subscribeable through RSS so the network alerts you for items meeting your interests instead of waiting for you to craft a search every time you feel a conscious need.

3. The Amazon/eBay "smart network" that automates the search and recommend function based on stated interests AND by remembering searches and paths

4. Customer Service center for instructors seeking help

5. Tour guides/Marketing Aide to demonstrate "How to use these resources"

6. Magazine model of info mgt/distribution: a targeted demographic, whose readers shape the course of the magazine/tools (Dear Readers! We listened to you!) Lean 6 Sigma (LSS) techniques have a way of accomplishing this, and a partnership with an LSS project seems like a natural one

Other work to be done:

1. Considering how we encourage/reward professional writing like lesson notes, course content, blog/wiki work that contributes to the practice of knowledge, in the same way we have tied promotion and retention to academic writing.

2. A faculty Development Program that incorporates more ideas related to "Master Classes in graduate teaching" on a regular basis. Some ideas include: a. Group learning vs Team-Based learning. b. RSS in the classroom (and blogs and wikis and podcasts...oh my) c. Live dialogue mapping skills to frame group discussions better (Google "Compendium" for demonstrations) d. How about giving Voice to faculty to let them nominate classes they want to receive, or challenges they face, and target the top vote getters?

3. An instructorNet Mall should have a "store" that has searchable index of available, recorded Faculty Development Programs with quick summaries of what's available for the individual instructor looking to sharpen his practice.

I hope these ideas generate some quality ideas in your situation.

Catch Up to Your Potential With an Online Degree

More than any other factor, education is what helps people climb the ladders of success, social status and self-esteem. However, it is not possible for everyone to make a smooth, seamless transition from high school to college and on to a career. People take various detours - the military, early marriages, world travel, "time off" - that often result in their never getting back to their educations. These are just the kind of people who would benefit from getting an online degree.

There are others, too, for whom an online degree would be superior to sitting in college classrooms for two, four, six or eight years. Often there are economic circumstances that not only prevent young people from going to college, but require them even to leave high school to work for the greater good of the family. There are also young people with very highly developed skills in a certain area, like mechanical engineering, who do not see the logic in studying literature or history to get a four-year degree.

Many people - of all races, in all age groups and from all social classes - were unable for one reason or another to enter college at around 18, graduate at around 22 with a bachelor's degree and start working in their chosen field. It used to be that, once one reached 30 years old or so, it was deemed "too late" to return to school. Only within the last few years has a solution arrived on the scene for "late bloomers" and "retreads" - an online degree.

An online degree can be an associate's, bachelor's, master's or even a doctorate. There are literally hundreds of colleges, trade schools and training institutes on the Internet that are accredited, and whose degrees and certificates are respected and recognized by business, industry and the educational establishment. Furthermore, just about any subject that can be studied on campus can be taken online as well. In a few disciplines, some in-class or laboratory time may be required, but even these requirements are flexible and simple to manage with the help of school counselors.

Whether for someone coming straight out of high school, or a middle-aged person seeking a career change, setting sights on an online degree is a challenge that has a big payoff. The payoff comes in the form of increased lifetime earnings, enhanced reputation, greater employment opportunities and heightened self-respect. There are few things in life that bring as many positive results as working hard, studying diligently and bringing home that online degree.

After founding his first security firm in 1990, Scott McQuarrie built several security-related companies into regional and national powerhouses over the ensuing years. Since 2000 he has focused his sales and marketing efforts on the Internet, which opened up a virtually unlimited, international market for his flagship product line, EZWatch Pro

The EZWatch Pro brand has come to stand for world-class expertise in electronic security, video surveillance and the myriad technologies involved in both fields. From small houses to gigantic international airports, there is an EZWatch Pro solution to meet any and every residential, business, commercial and government security challenge.

Is Open Content Set to Revolutionize Online Courses?

In a report by The Guardian today, Mandy Garner describes how European universities are on the verge of adopting an open content policy. She writes, "the Joint Information Systems Committee (Jisc) and the Higher Education Academy are launching a £5.7m pilot scheme to investigate the impact of open content and to look at issues of how to contextualise existing online material so anyone can make sense of it." So what does this mean for online courses, and higher education in general?

In simple terms, open content for education will mean that lectures and seminars will be available to anybody, instead of being available just to students of the institutions that produce it. As a consequence of this, the notion of online study will become more appealing for institutions and students alike because the best course content will be available to all, and comparable on a global level.

However, this could mean a lot more for higher education in general. Not only will the online content available be of a higher quality due to global competition, but traditional courses may also be inclined to start incorporating digital means into their structure more often. A likelihood that is backed up by the tendency for current traditional degrees to have their own intranets and forums where students can post work for peer assessment etc.

Unsurprisingly, open content for higher education is not a new thing. As Garner explains, "Universities in the Netherlands, for instance, have an open source initiative that is mainly in English. The University of Paris is also using open content and 800 educational resources from around 100 teaching units have been made available by 11 member universities of the ParisTech Open CourseWare Consortium."

However, what is perhaps even less surprising is that the USA has been ahead of the game of online education for years, "where thousands of courses have been made available by university-based projects, including MIT OpenCourseWare." Not only does it seem that the UK is behind in terms of deeming online learning as legitimate (US online courses are advertised on television), but we are also slacking compared to the rest of the world in terms of the accessibility of higher education.

The Pros and Cons of an Online Education

Advantages of an Online Education

The option of getting an online education is a welcomed by many, particularly people who don't have easy access to a nearby college or university, or access to a school which offers the courses necessary to fill their particular needs.

Online educational opportunities are a real boon to students that travel frequently, or are in the military.

Many of us may have missed the opportunity to get our degrees during the traditional college years. Finances and family obligations may have curtailed opportunities.

Thankfully, easy access to online college degrees has given us our "second" chance.

Drawbacks of an Online Education

With all of its benefits, however, you need to be aware of some of the drawbacks to getting an online education.

First, make sure the school you are taking courses through is an accredited school that offers transferable credits. The Internet has opened up vast educational opportunities with many prestigious schools.

However, there are plenty less reputable schools that amount to nothing more than "diploma mills".

"Diploma Mills" give you credit for life experience, which is not recognized by state and federal laws. You can even "buy" a doctorate. So don't let a fancy website fool you.

Employers are well aware of these types of diplomas, and will check the accreditation of your degree.

If you're in doubt as to the school's reputation, check with U.S. Department of Education's Council of Higher Education Accreditation to ensure the courses they offer are accredited.

Time Management Skills

To be successful, make sure you can manage your time well. The flexibility of online courses is great, but if you're easily distracted, this type of schooling may not work for you.

It's all about self-discipline - the ability to work on your college courses and set aside time to study - even though there are a million other seemingly more important things to do.

Set Manageable Goals for Yourself

Goals help us to stay focused on our end goal. Remember if a project seems too big, break it down into more manageable, less intimidating steps. Complete a step, and move on to the next.

Staying organized and focused with the help of daily planners will help you to achieve your goals.

Online Bachelors Degree - Why You Should Get an Online Bachelors Degree

Are you frustrated by your job situation where you are putting in the hours and no tangible returns to talk about. If you do not have a bachelor's degree, be well advised about getting one, as this is now a prerequisite in any professional job without which you are likely to be given a big pass. Online bachelor's degree could be your springboard to a better salary; career and general well being as well as enabling you pursue higher degrees like masters and eventually doctorate degree. So do not be frustrated any more, it's time for an online bachelors degree.

To have a bachelor's degree releases you to reach higher, explore new horizons, enhance your career, and place you in an ideal position for a promotion or better opportunity in another company. A lack of a bachelor's degree obviously takes you the opposite way and leaves you without hope of progressing in your chosen career.

In your pursuit of higher education however, one must be careful about which institution he deals with and which programs he does choose. Choose a relevant course that is marketable and beneficial to you. There are several course offered online at bachelors level and if from well-credited colleges, will put you in good stead for progression. Online bachelors degrees were for many years shunned for being of inferior quality and indeed some states and companies have very strict laws on online degrees but now that is slowly fading as even very reputable colleges have introduced online bachelors degrees in the curriculum.

To get good courses, one should shop around thoroughly and ascertain the accreditation status of the college before joining. Yahoo search engines and many internet sites can help and on the same breath, I recommend this site, http://www.education-degreeonline.com. This website guides you through the process of enrolling for an online degree program. It has details and types of accredited degrees from which you can choose from as well more information about online learning.

I wanted an online bachelors degree. But finding the right place to apply online for a bachelors degree was a tedious job. I spent a lot of time on searching for resources that could help me apply to the right college. Finally I found online education review website that helped me apply to top colleges free of cost.
